Farewell Rhode Island

Cranston, Rhode Island has been my home for the last two months. I arrived not knowing what to expect and leave loving the city, the state and the people. A partial list of reasons why, in no particular order:

  1. Every week, I find a different waterfront bench to rest on and meditate.
  2. Every day, I find a new favorite house.
  3. The BBQ quesadillas, ground been nachos and jalapeño burrito at Poco Loco. It’s really a chicken burrito but the peppers overpower the meat.
  4. R&S Auto and Gas where they pump my gas, check my fluids and patch my tire when I run over a nail.
  5. It’s a state with over 100 beaches.
  6. Anything commute over 15 minutes is “Rhode Island far.”
  7. Brown University campus.
  8. Every pastry at Seven Stars Bakery.
  9. Edgewood Womens Gym.
  10. Water fountains are Bubblers and (grocery) carts are carriages.
  11. Stillhouse Cove.
  12. Roger Williams Park.
  13. Church bells ring every 30 minutes.
  14. Sailing
  15. Edgewood Yacht Club.
  16. Walking my niece home from school.

A quote from a greeting card reads, “Live your life without expectations, and you’ll never be disappointed again.” Sure worked for me. Farewell Rhode Island. I’ll be back.
